Pool Cleaning Tools the Pros Use

While you’re probably already using some of the most common, today we’ll be walking you through some of the lesser known pool cleaning utilities.

Adding a pool to your Maryland home is one of the most exciting things you can do this summer. Owning a pool helps improve your property value and curb appeal, is a great way to get exercise and have fun, and it’s a fantastic feature to make our hot summers more bearable – but it comes with maintenance needs. Keeping your pool clean is one of the most important things you can do, as when it’s fresh, it’s easier to maintain, and it only looks better. To keep your pool as clean as possible, you need to have the right tools. While you’re probably already using some of the most common, today we’ll be walking you through some of the lesser known pool cleaning utilities.

Pumice Stone

You’ve likely heard of a pumice stone before for treating rough skin, but it can also be used for pools! Pumice is a rough, light lava stone that is incredibly porous, which makes it great for scrubbing. If you have cement stains, calcium deposits on plaster or tile, or berry stains, you can use a pumice stone to grind the stained layer off. Pumice can also be used to remove black algae from pool surfaces.

Return Eyeballs

Eyeball fittings are used in the pool to direct water flow in a circular pattern; these are critical as they direct any debris in the pool toward the skimmers. Replacing the eyeball fittings can help keep the water moving more effectively so that more of the debris makes it into the filters.

Vac Plates

The piece that fits over your skim basket is known as the skim vacuum plate and can help improve how much debris you collect and trap. Each type of skimmer basket is paired with its kind of vac plate to ensure effective use.

Stain Master

When you need to clean small, specific stains on plaster, a stain master is a tool you need. The stain master is a device that uses a siphon that can suck muriatic acid and place it directly onto the stain. The method uses a hose and applicator that can be attached to a pool pole and releases with a button when the applicator is held flat against a pool wall.
