How to Know When It’s Time to Replace Your Pool Liner

Sunrise Premiere Pool Builders Liner

You should regularly inspect your swimming pool liner so you know when it’s time to replace it.

While proper maintenance can extend the lifespan of every part of your pool, some parts will eventually need to be replaced. One such part is the pool liner. What are some of the signs that you should think about replacing the liner sooner rather than later?

Cracking or Tearing

If your pool liner is made of vinyl, it is going to naturally degrade over time due to the chlorine and chemicals used to treat the water in the pool and the hot rays of the sun. Especially if you have a vinyl liner, you should take care to check the liner on a regular basis. Cracks and tears should be taken care of as soon as possible, as they can lead the water level to drop and damage the rest of the pool.

Stretching or Wrinkling

Another common condition that can occur in a vinyl pool liner is stretching or wrinkling. This can happen because the liner stretches or starts to lose its elasticity. When the liner is stretched to the point of being compromised, it can lead to permanent damage to the pool. If you notice wrinkling, it’s another sign that something must be done.

One of the most obvious signs of a problem with your pool liner is a leak. Thankfully, some leaks can be patched to avoid replacing the liner for a few more months or years. Unfortunately, leaks are not always easy to find. If you are unable to pinpoint the source of the leak in your pool liner, you’ll need to replace it outright. One hidden leak or numerous small leaks can cause water to seep into the walls of the pool. This washes away the structure of the pool itself, which can lead to irreversible damage. Sunrise Premiere Pool Builders can help assess the issue so that you can feel confident about the state of your pool.
