Types of Automatic Pool Cleaners

Don’t waste your time scooping things out of your pool. Spend more time swimming!

As a pool owner, there is nothing more hated than the task of cleaning your pool. From cleaning the leaves and debris floating in the waves to scrubbing the algae from the bottom of your pool, owning a pool can seem like it is more trouble than its worth. But what if there was a solution for your cleaning woes? Well, have you looked into automatic pool cleaners? These pool cleaners will automatically clean your pool, saving your hours of scrubbing and give you hours of swimming. Let’s talk about these wonderful inventions!

Pressure Cleaners

A pressure cleaner uses suction from a water pump to clean your pull by connecting to either the main circulation pump or a booster pump. It uses water pressure to move the physical cleaner from the pool while catching the debris in a bag. The cleaner doesn’t move debris into your filter, which means you won’t have to spend as much time cleaning the filter. This cleaner is very low maintenance and is great at picking up larger floating debris from your pool. However, it is less effective at removing fine particles and won’t clean the walls of your pool.

Suction Cleaners

Automatic suction cleaners move a vacuum around the floor of your pool. Some models of suction cleaner also have the option of cleaning the walls of your pool as well. Suction pool cleaners suck debris into the pool’s filter and is suited for fine particles. They are also less expensive than other cleaners and will clean faster than other models. Because this version sends debris through your filtration system, you may have to spend more time cleaning the pump.

Robotic Cleaners

Electrically powered, robotic pool cleaners have a self-contained pump and filtration system. This electronically powered system contains a computer chip that learns over time how to clean your pool more efficiently. They are effective at removing both large debris and fine particles from your pool. They also will clean your pool walls and help to circulate the pool water. The range of this cleaner is limited to the electrical cord. These cleaners also need their built-in pumps and filters cleaned frequently. Robotic cleaners are also more expensive than regular cleaners and do require maintenance.
