What You Need to Know Before You Install a Pool

When you are designing a pool and readying for pool installation, it can be easy to get caught up in all of the fun stuff and forget some important details.

The chill of winter is in the air and delicious holiday cookies are in the oven, but that doesn’t mean you can’t already be dreaming of all the fun you’ll have in summer! When you are designing a pool and readying for pool installation, it can be easy to get caught up in all of the fun stuff and forget some important details. Here is some advice on what to know before you install a pool in your yard.

Why Do You Want a Pool?

Knowing why exactly you want a new pool or spa is crucial to designing your pool. Do you want a pool big enough to fit your entire family and more during a Labor Day party? Do you want something to dip your toes in while you read books on summer vacation? Everyone has radically different needs, so be sure to really think about what you want to use your pool for.

How Big Will Your Pool Be?

Sure your backyard seems big, but how big is it really? Take some tape or washable grass paint to your backyard and mark off the dimensions of the pool that you think you want in a location that you think would work. Does that seem too big or too small? Beyond the physical size of the pool, you also need to think about the shape of the pool and how deep it will be. Will it have one universal depth or multiple ones to allow for space for the kids and space for the adults? Keep in mind the structure and landscaping of your yard throughout the process.

What’s Your Style?

Last but certainly not least, you need to think about the style of your yard and deck or screened-in porch. If you have a minimalist or chic design throughout your landscaping and home, you might not want a splashy and over the top pool. However, if your home favors marble over hardwood, the luxury of a lagoon might be appealing.
