You generally try to brush your teeth twice a day, every day. So why wouldn’t you consider brushing your pool? While this is an unorthodox suggestion, it can make a huge difference. As we get closer to spring, it’s almost time to reopen your pool and greet warmer weather. Here are some of the reasons why you should brush out your pool.
Why Should You Do It?
First of all, brushing your swimming pool will help get rid of any calcium scale problems. This scale film can make your pool disgusting to look at, and no one will want to get into it, no matter how warm the water is. You can also stop annoying stains from building up in and around your pool. Dirt, oils, sweat, and debris can all leave stains, even though you probably can’t see any of them yet. Also, brushing your pool can stop or slow down the growth of mold, mildew, and algae, all of which love sources of water. If algae grow out of control, it makes your pool unsafe to use. You can also prevent the problem known as etching. Etching makes the pool rough and uncomfortable. Salt, calcium, and pH decreaser can all help you prevent etching.
When Should You Do It?
After the pool has plastering or pebbling done to it, you should brush it. That’s because there will plenty of dust you need to clean away. Much as you would with brushing your teeth, you need to do this two or three times a day. However, you can stop after two or three weeks. Putting pool chemicals in the pool can change the quality of the water. Brushing the chemicals can help disperse the chemicals and spread it throughout the water. Plus, stains will be hard to get rid of, and the chemicals you use to deal with them need to be spread out; that’s why you need to brush your pool again. Oh, and you’ll need to do it to get rid of any algae that you find.
How to Do It
Use a short pole for walls of the pool. Then, telescope the pole to work on cleaning the floor of the pool. After that, pay attention to steps, benches, and shallow ends of the pool. That’ll be easier to deal with first. Work your way from the shallow end to the deep end. Clean out the drain in the deep end and then brush the walls and floor around the deep end as well. Follow through and reach as far as you can. Don’t forget to spend some time cleaning the main drain of the pool, too.
